Coast Guard medically transports two people from Catalina Island

SAN PEDRO, Calif. — A Coast Guard helicopter crew conducted two separate medical transports from Catalina Island Tuesday.
At approximately 1:40 p.m., Catalina Island Medical Center personnel in Avalon notified Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders of a 60-year-old woman with

The helicopter crew arrived on scene, embarked the woman and transported her to St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach where she was last reported in stable condition.
Shortly after transporting the woman at approximately 4 p.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel notified watchstanders of an 84-year-old man at Catalina Island Medical Center who was reported unresponsive. After performing CPR and reviving the man, the fire department requested a medevac for a higher level of medical care. Watchstanders dispatched the same Forward Operating Base Point Mugu helicopter to respond.
The helicopter crew arrived on scene, embarked the man and transported him to Torrance Memorial Medical Center where he was last reported in stable condition.
