Coast Guard medevacs 76-year-old woman from cruise ship near Key West

MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced a 76-year-old woman from the cruise ship, Norwegian Getaway Saturday approximately 132 miles southwest of Key West.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard 7th District received a notification at approximately 6 a.m. from the crew of the cruise ship stating a woman aboard may have been suffering from heart attack-like symptoms and required emergency medical assistance. 

The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to assist. The air crew hoisted the patient and a nurse and transferred them to Jackson Memorial Hospital at approximately 3:20 p.m.
