SUBJ: 2018 DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY (DHS) EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
(EEO)/CIVIL RIGHTS/DIVERSITY & INCLUSION AWARDS
1. This ALCOAST solicits nominations for the DHS EEO/Civil Rights/Diversity
and Inclusion Awards. This recognition will honor DHS Components and employees
who have made a difference while promoting and achieving the Department’s
EEO/Civil Rights, Diversity and Inclusion program goals. 
2. Individual and group nominations are now being accepted in the following
categories:
    A. Officer's Special Service Award
    B. DHS Component Award
    C. EEO Practitioner(s) of the Year Award
    D. Team or Group Award
    E. Conciliator Award
    F. Peer-to-Peer Recognition
3. Additional details about the awards categories and the required nomination form
may be accessed at https://www.uscg.mil/Resources/Civil-Rights/Civil-Rights-Awards/.
All DHS employees, supervisory or non-supervisory, may nominate individuals or
groups. For nominations of individuals, the signature of the nominee’s supervisor
is required. For the Coast Guard, group nominations must first be endorsed by a
supervisor and the Director, Civil Rights Directorate. Group awards must be
submitted to the Director no later than 1700, EST, Thursday, 22 March 2018.
4. The performance period for award consideration is 1 October 2016 through
1 October 2017. Awards will be conferred during the DHS EEO and Diversity Training
Conference in Washington, D.C., 15-17 May 2018.
5. All completed nomination forms must be submitted via email to
EEODAwards@hq.dhs.gov by 1700, EST, Friday, 30 March 2018.  The POC is
Captain P. K. Aboagye (kofi.aboagye@uscg.mil).
