Coast Guard medevacs 72-year-old man from cruise ship near Key West
MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced a 72-year-old man from the cruise ship, Norwegian Getaway Monday approximately 60 miles south of Key West.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West received a notification at approximately 2:50 a.m. from the crew of the cruise ship stating a man aboard was suffering from stomach pains and required emergency medical assistance.
The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Key West 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew to assist. The boatcrew embarked the patient and his wife, and took them local emergency medical services to be transferred to Lower Keys Medical Center at approximately 7 a.m.
