Coast Guard medevacs a mariner near Marathon
MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced a 57-year-old man from a sailing vessel, Thursday in Boot Key Harbor near Marathon.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Marathon received a notification from Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 8 p.m. stating a man had suffered a head laceration after falling near his sailing vessel. The watchstanders directed the launch of a station 33-foot Special Purpose Craft—Law Enforcement crew to assist.
The crew transferred the patient aboard and took him to Burdines Marina at about 8:17 p.m. to awaiting emergency medical services.
EMS took the patient to Fisherman’s Hospital in Marathon for further medical care.
