Coast Guard rescues boater from sinking vessel near Quarantine Island

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Coast Guard crews rescued a boater from a sinking vessel Wednesday near Quarantine Island, Georgia.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders received notification that a 14-foot Boston Whaler was taking on water at 9:58 a.m. and immediately launched a Coast Guard Station Brunswick 29-foot Response Boat—Small crew. The crew arrived on scene at 10:16 a.m., took the boater aboard and began de-watering the vessel.

Tow Boat U.S. transported the vessel to Morning Star Marina. 

There were no reported injuries.
