Hiring Our Heroes Transition Summit to be held at Coast Guard Base Alameda

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Coast Guard Base Alameda is scheduled to host Hiring Our Heroes: Coast Guard Base Alameda Transition Summit, Tuesday.

The event is a one-day hiring reception for veterans and military spouses sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and the USO.

The transition summit, the first to be held at a Coast Guard installation, is a collaborative effort to connect transitioning servicemembers and military spouses to meaningful employment opportunities by bringing together key federal and state agencies, military leaders, business innovators and local community leaders to participate in panel discussions, workshops and a hiring reception. More than 100 employers are expected to participate and have jobs available for veterans and military spouses of all ranks and experience levels. Companies participating in the event range from America's largest employers to dozens of smaller companies from across the region.

The event is scheduled to include a series of industry-specific education briefs, veteran-focused resume and digital networking workshops, a town hall-style panel discussion with employers from a cross section of fields and a networking reception.

"At Coast Guard Island, we are committed to taking care of our Coast Guardsmen and their families during their active duty service, as well as when they transition to civilian life," said Capt. Jonathan Hickey, the Coast Guard Base Alameda commander. "As the first Coast Guard installation to partner with Hiring Our Heroes to host a Transition Summit, we are taking a proactive step in providing proven tools and resources for our people during transition. We are proud to bring this comprehensive event to our community and look forward to welcoming the participating employers and organizations who recognize the capital that veterans bring to a professional organization."

WHEN: Tuesday. Doors Open at 8:30 a.m. and Interactive Workshops and Panel Discussions begin at 9:00 a.m.

WHERE: Gresham Hall, Coast Guard Base Alameda, Alameda, California
