1. The 29th Annual Women in Aviation International (WAI) Conference will be
held 22-24 March 2018 at the Peppermill Reno in Reno, NV. The conference is
hosted by Women in Aviation International, a nonprofit organization
dedicated to the encouragement and advancement of women in all aviation
career fields and interests.
2. The purpose of this annual conference is to foster education, career
development, and training, as well as provide networking and mentoring
opportunities to members of the aviation community.  Military services as
well as civilian aviation professionals from around the world will be in
attendance.
3. In order to further professional development, attendance is open to all
women and men serving in or seeking a career in aviation. This conference
has been approved IAW Section X of REF (A), so Commanding officers/OICs
may issue TDY orders for personnel to attend IAW REF (B). If funding is
not available, permissive orders are also authorized in accordance with
Chapter 2.a.10. of REF (C). Attendance via permissive orders is unlimited,
but members must notify COMDT (CG-711) via email to HQS-SMB-WAI@uscg.mil
for accountability. 
4. IAW REF (A) and (B), the Office of Aviation Forces, COMDT (CG-711) is
the Coast Guard champion for the event and is responsible to account for
and report all attendance and overall costs. Coast Guard funded attendance
is limited. To request attendance, members shall request attendance through
their chain of command for unit-level approval. Once members are notified
via email that attendance is approved, they must email their approved TDY
request to HQS-SMB-WAI@uscg.mil no later than 1 March 2018. Approval
priority will be based on the following criteria: a. first time attendees,
b. junior members, and c. all others, with consideration given to career
path and experience and potential benefit to the Coast Guard. COMDT (CG-711)
will issue final approval via email. COMDT (CG-711) will pay for
registration fees for the first 35 members approved to attend, units will
fund all conference fees over the initial 35 paid fees.
5. DHS requires a post-conference report 30 days after the event. To comply,
all travelers must submit a copy of their settlement to COMDT (CG-711) via
email to HQS-SMB-WAI@uscg.mil no later than 6 Apr 2018.
6. Conference attendance information:
    A. The registration cut-off date is 12 March 2018. Members whose
conference fees are paid by COMDT (CG-711) should NOT register online but
instead should submit a registration form to COMDT (CG-711). All members
whose fees are not paid by COMDT (CG-711) should register online at
https://www.wai.org/confreg/2018_start.cfm by 12 March.
    B. Uniforms for the conference are flight suits for aviators or
Tropical Blue for non-aviators.  Attire for the banquet will be SDB-A,
jacket with blue ties or tie tabs, slacks or skirts permissible.
    C. Attendees should follow instructions via SEPCOR for booking hotel
reservations and email HQS-SMB-WAI@uscg.mil with any questions.
