B. CG-EPQ-EPME (MAY/2017) CHIEF PETTY OFFICER

1. The following amendments are specific for the May 2018 Service Wide
Examination (SWE) cycle:
   a. DELETE EPQ 9.3.1 of REF (A) and 7.2.1, 7.2.3, 7.3.1, 7.3.2 and 7.4.1 of
REF (B) as these tasks are completed as elements of the course curriculum at
Chief Petty Officer Academy (CPOACAD) and Senior Enlisted Leadership Course (SELC).
Mandatory attendance at the CPOACAD or an approved Department of Defense substitute
is required for advancement to E7 and E8. SELC is required for advancement to E9.
   b. DELETE EPQs 6.1.1, 6.2.3, and 6.2.4 of REF (C) and 5.2.1, 5.2.2, 5.2.3,
5.3.2 and 5.3.3 of REF (D) as references associated with these EPQs are either
missing or outdated.
2. The preexisting 01 February 2018 SWE Eligibility Date (SED) to complete EPQs
remains in effect. This change does not add any new requirements.
3. EPQ programming has not been fully implemented in TMT and is NOT the approved
method for reporting and verifying EPQ completion. As a reminder, the CO/OIC is
still required to manually verify that the candidate’s most current version of EPQs
are validated by the SED to qualify for the May 2018 SWE. Since EPQ completion will
not be verified through TMT or DA, the CO/OIC shall notify PPC(ADV) via email to
PPC-DG-CustomerCare@uscg.mil of any members who receive an “eligible” PDE but
failed to complete the EPQs by the SED to prevent an exam from being shipped.
4. POC: PACM Mike O’Berry at (202) 475-5489, Eugene.m.Oberry@uscg.mil.
5. RDML Keith M. Smith, Commander, Force Readiness Command, sends.
6. Internet release is authorized.
