Coast Guard medevacs woman from Cayo Costa, Florida
FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 60-year-old woman from Cayo Costa, Wednesday.
Rescued was Sara Kent, 60.
Station Fort Myers Beach watchstanders received a Marine Emergency Response Team notification from Lee County Sherriff's Office at 6:03 p.m. on Wednesday requesting assistance with a medevac. Kent's husband reported she had suffered symptoms of a stroke and was in need of emergency medical assistance. A flight surgeon was notified and recommended Kent be medevaced.
An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Air Station Clearwater was diverted and transported Kent in stable condition alongside her husband to Lee Memorial Hospital.
Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach and Lee County Sheriff's Office personnel also responded.
