UPDATE: Coast Guard, locals rescue mudslide victims in Santa Barbara County
SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard rescued and medevaced several mudslide victims in Santa Barbara County area, Tuesday.
Two helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station San Fransisco's Forward Operating Base Point Mugu and two Jayhawk crews from Coast Guard Sector San Diego continued to assist Santa Barbara County and local first responder agencies with rescue efforts for the mudslides in Santa Barbara, Montecito, Summerland and Carpinteria, on Tuesday.
At approximately 4:27 p.m., an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew medevaced a dialysis patient from a country club golf course in Montecito, and transported the patient and spouse to EMS at Santa Barbara Airport.
At approximately 4:30 p.m., an MH-60 Jayhawk crews evacuated 21 people from a country club golf course in Santa Barbara County.
In total, the Coast Guard assisted local authorities in saving or assisting 38 lives, and assisting 15 pets during yesterday's rescue efforts.
