Coast Guard reopens Capes following blizzard in Hampton Roads, Va.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads Captain of the Port fully reopened the Port at noon Friday.

Ice condition two is still in effect. Ice has been reported on Virginia’s Eastern Shore and in the Chesapeake Bay tributaries.

“The Port is now open without restrictions," said Capt. Rick Wester, Sector Hampton Roads Captain of the Port. “However, we strongly recommend all mariners exercise caution and report any aid discrepancies or hazards to navigation, including ice accumulation on navigable waters, to the Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads Command Center at 757-668-6635.”
