Coast Guard medevacs 12-year-old from cruise ship near Miami
MIAMI —The Coast Guard medevaced a 12-year-old Canadian boy from the cruise ship, Caribbean Princess, approximately 230 miles southeast of Miami, Tuesday.
Coast Guard District Seven watchstanders received a call from the cruise ship stating the 12-year-old boy was suffering from symptoms of appendicitis and was in need of medical assistance.
A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater was launched at approximately 7:00 p.m., arrived on scene and transported the patient and his father to awaiting emergency medical services at Air Station Miami at approximately 8:30 p.m.
