Coast Guard rescues man, 2 dogs from disabled vessel


NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard rescued a 60-year-old man and two dogs from a disabled vessel in Bayou Cumbest, Mississippi, Tuesday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report of a disabled vessel with a man and two dogs aboard at approximately 4 a.m.

Sector watchstanders directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to assist the man and the dogs.

Mississippi Department of Marine Resources also responded.

The aircrew arrived on scene at approximately 6 a.m., hoisted the man and dogs and transported them to  emergency medical services at Trent Lott International Airport in stable condition.
