NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 17-year-old male from a cruise ship approximately 170 nautical miles southeast of South West Pass, Louisiana, Saturday.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 8 a.m. from the cruise ship Carnival Dream that the male had suffered a seizure.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched a MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew and Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile launched a HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew.

The crews arrived on scene at 12:30 p.m. and the helicopter crew hoisted the male, his mother, and the cruise ship nurse and transferred them to University Medical in New Orleans.
