Tricare Assessment of San Juan and USVI

united states coast guard

Greetings!

Please see the below information passed by Sector San Juan in regards to the Tricare assessment:

The Tricare's overseas program contractor conducted an assessment regarding Access to Care in Puerto Rico and the USVI. Based on their assessment in San Juan, Primary Care for dependents is operational and available at the Rodriguez Health Clinic at Fort Buchanan and the Salus Clinic. 12 of 14 hospitals in San Juan are reported as fully functional. With Primary Care and Emergencies covered, HSWL is confident specialty services can be delivered in San Juan for active duty members and their dependents. In cases where specialty care is not available, members can request medical orders via the Travel to Obtain Health Care (TTOHC).

In the USVI there is diminished primary care and emergency services and it is not recommended the entire beneficiary population return at this time.

Tricare is conducting a more definitive on-site assessment and will provide the results on 30 Dec 2017.

If you have questions or concerns please let CDR Williams, LT Wigfall or Chief Busselman know.

Respectfully,

FSU
