SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 61-year-old man from the Grand Princess cruise ship 17 nautical miles southwest of Government Point Wednesday.

At approximately 7:40 a.m., Grand Princess crew notified Coast Guard 11th District command center watchstanders of a man experiencing chest pains.

After consulting with the duty flight surgeon, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Forward Operating Base Mugu was dispatched.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Santa Barbara Airport where emergency medical services awaited. The EMS then transported him to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where he was reported in stable condition.
