Coast Guard medevacs 80-year-old man from cruise ship near Key West
MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced an 80-year-old man Tuesday from the cruise ship, Celebrity Reflection, approximately 50 miles south of Key West, Florida.
Coast Guard Sector Key West Command Center watchstanders received a request from the cruise ship crew for medevac assistance at approximately 4:14 a.m. The patient was reportedly suffering from heart attack-like symptoms.
Coast Guard Station Key West launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew. They arrived on scene at approximately 7:11 a.m. and transferred the patient, his spouse and a nurse to awaiting EMS ashore in Key West at approximately 7:30 a.m. with no further incidents.
