Coast Guard medevacs 2 from cruise ship near Port Everglades

MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced two passengers Tuesday from the cruise ship, Coral Princess, near Port Everglades, Florida.
Coast Guard Sector Miami Command Center watchstanders received requests from the cruise ship crew for medevac assistance at approximately 5:40 p.m. stating a 73-year-old man had internal bleeding and a 79-year-old man had reportedly broken their arm.
Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale launched a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew and 33-foot Response Boat-Small crew with EMS from Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue to the ship.
Both patients were safely transported to Broward General Hospital at approximately 7:00 p.m.
The incidents were unrelated.
