Coast Guard rescues 5 kayakers stranded on Jekyll Island, Ga.
CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard rescued five kayakers Monday who were stranded on Jekyll Island, Ga.
Coast Guard Station Brunswick watchstanders received a distress call at 2:06 p.m. via cell phone from one of the distressed kayakers stating two adults and three children were stranded and in need of emergency assistance on Jekyll Island.
Watchstanders launched a 45-foot Response Boat – Medium (RBM) boatcrew from Station Brunswick at 2:23 p.m. to assist.
The RBM crew recovered the kayakers at 2:42 p.m. and transported them to the Jekyll Creek Boat Ramp.
No injuries were reported.
