Coast Guard medevacs 33-year-old man from cruise ship near Bahamas

MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced a 33-year-old man from the cruise ship, Disney Fantasy, Thursday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard 7th District Command Center received a request from the cruise ship for medevac assistance at approximately 8 a.m. stating the passenger was reportedly suffering from medical complications associated with abdominal pains. 

The cruise ship transferred the patient to a pier in Matthew Town, Great Inagua Island, Bahamas where he was picked up by a Coast Guard crew. The patient will be flown via Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to Cheshire Hall Medical Centre, Providenciales Turks and Caicos for further medical care.
