PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a man who was experiencing chest pain Saturday, from a container ship approximately 80 miles off Cape Charles.

The crew of the container ship Norwegian Breakaway contacted watchstanders at the Fifth District Command Center in Portsmouth at approximately 12:40 p.m., stating a 26-year-old male was experiencing chest pain aboard the ship.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and hoisted the man and the ship’s nurse.

The man was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital to receive treatment.
