Coast Guard medevacs a 71-year-old woman from cruise ship east of Miami

MIAMI -- The Coast Guard medevaced a 71-year-old woman from the Carnival cruise ship, Liberty, Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami Command Center received a request from the cruise ship for the medevac stating the passenger was reportedly suffering from hypertension.

The Coast Guard launched an Air Station Clearwater MH-60 helicopter crew.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 12:00 p.m., safely transferred the patient and a nurse aboard the helicopter, and transported them to Jackson Memorial hospital.
