SUBJ: COAST GUARD FOUNDATION ENLISTED RESERVE SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS FOR 2017-2018
1. The Coast Guard Foundation, enabled by the generosity of the United States
Automobile Association (USAA), sponsored eight $1,000 scholarships for
Academic Year 2017 - 2018 to help offset the costs of higher education for
enlisted Coast Guard reservists or their dependents.
2. I am pleased to announce the following Coast Guard Foundation Enlisted
Reserve Scholarship winners for 2017-2018 (alphabetical order):
    A. YN2 Caryn Ciesla, CG Sector Mobile, Mobile, AL. YN2 Ciesla is pursuing
a Masters Degree in Public Health at the University of West Florida.
    B. Mr. Brady Eudy, husband of BM1 Emily Eudy, CG Sector Lower Mississippi
River, Memphis, TN. Mr. Eudy is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Environmental
Science at Columbia Southern University.
    C. MK2 Cory Finley, CG Sector San Diego, San Diego, CA. MK2 Finley is pursing
a Masters Degree in Cardiovascular Perfusion from the Medical University or
South Carolina.
    D. MST3 Katelynn Herring, CG Sector Corpus Christi, Corpus Christi, TX.
MST3 Herring is pursuing an Associates Degree in Chemistry at Austin Community
College. 
    E. Ms. Alexandra Hinga, daughter of BMCM Marvin Hinga, CG Station Calumet
Harbor, Chicago, IL. Ms. Hinga is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Integrated
Science at Calvin College.
    F. ME1 Glenn Hyzak, CG Sector San Diego, San Diego, CA.
    G. Mrs. Abigail Rivera, wife of MECS Luis Rivera, CG Sector Hampton Roads,
Portsmouth, VA. Mrs. Rivera is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration
from Strayer University.
    H. SK2 Sumer Saunders, CG Sector San Diego, San Diego, CA. SK2 Saunders is
pursing a Bachelors Degree in Accountancy from National University.
3. Congratulations to all scholarship recipients.
4. The quality of submissions this year was extremely high. Applicants not
selected for a scholarship are commended for their initiative and pursuit of
higher education. I encourage you to compete again next year and wish you every
success in completing your educational and career goals.
