Coast Guard concludes Poughkeepsie session of Hudson River PAWSA

 

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Lt. Cmdr. Joshua Buck, a participant at the Hudson River Ports and Waterways Safety Assessment (PAWSA) Workshop offers expertise during discussion of the risk mitigation factors at the Workshop, Nov. 8, 2017. More than 40 participants and 12 observers took part in discussions during the two-day Workshop about the Hudson River identifying various risks on the waterway and risk mitigation factors. The PAWSA is a long-standing process that will help improve the Coast Guard’s and connected stakeholders’ understanding of the safety and environmental risks on the Hudson River. This model was used in the Hudson River PAWSA Workshop in Poughkeepsie, NY, Nov. 7-8, 2017. The PAWSA is a long-standing process that will help improve the Coast Guard’s and connected stakeholders’ understanding of the safety and environmental risks on the Hudson River. POUGHKEEPSIE, NY -- The Coast Guard concluded the two-day Hudson River Ports and Waterways Safety Assessment Workshop today at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel in Poughkeepsie. 

Participants resumed the Workshop this morning to discuss current and future risk mitigation factors for the 24 baseline risk components identified yesterday in the first day of the Workshop.

Next week in Albany, the second of two Hudson River PAWSA Workshops is scheduled to take place. Both Poughkeepsie and Albany sessions will be combined into one report stating the risks on the River that were identified as well as potential risk mitigation measures, and help facilitate the Coast Guard's next steps on identified measures.
