Coast Guard medevacs woman from cruise ship near Bahamas

MIAMI—The Coast Guard medevaced a 69-year-old woman Wednesday morning from the Carnival Pride cruise ship approximately 69 miles off of the Bahamas.

Watch standers with the Coast Guard 7th District Command Center received a call from the Carnival Pride at approximately 12:30 a.m. stating the woman was experiencing heart attack-like symptoms and needed a medevac. The watch standers directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew to assist.

The crew arrived on scene, hoisted the woman, and transferred her to awaiting emergency medical services at Coast Guard Air Station Miami who took her to Jackson Memorial Hospital for further medical services.
