Coast Guard medevacs injured boater off Barnegat Light

PHILADELPHIA – The Coast Guard medevaced two people after one was injured when their boat ran aground near Oyster Creek Channel at about 3:30 p.m., near Barnegat Light, New Jersey, Saturday.

A 29-foot Response Boat-Small rescue crew from Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light was already underway when the distress call was announced over marine-band radio, and the crew was on-scene quickly to take the injured person and their relative to awaiting emergency medical services at Station Barnegat Light.

“The daily training operations that we conduct allowed us to quickly get to this person and get them to the medical care they needed,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Christopher Rentenberg, officer of the day at Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light. “It’s a good feeling knowing we can be there to help the people who need us.”
