COMMANDERS AND OIC QUALIFIED E-6 BOATSWAIN’S MATES
A. COMDT COGARD WASHINGTON DC ACN 065/17
B. Enlisted Accessions, Evaluations, and Advancements, COMDTINST
M1000.2(series)
1. REF (A) announced a change to advancement policy contained in Article
3.A.3.f of REF (B), incentivizing members to become a TRACEN Cape May Company
Commander (CC) and/or to successfully pass District Officer in Charge (OIC)
Boards as BM1s.
2. Article 3.A.3.g of REF (B) now includes two incentives that are each worth
1 point on the service wide exam (SWE) final multiple score. These incentives
will be treated as award points under this Article, but are not physical
awards and no new device will be created as a result of this policy change.
3. Direct Access (DA) coding has been completed and members who hold the
competencies listed in paragraph 3 and 4 of REF (A) may now receive these
incentives. Qualified members may request the SWE point through their Chain
of Command to their Admin Office and/or SPO for eligibility verification and
entering into DA. Admin Offices and SPOs may also review competency records
and determine which members in their AOR qualify for the incentive and enter
into DA. The award codes are:
a. “CGOINC” – Award Description – “Officer in Charge”
b. “CGCC” – Award Description – “Company Commander”.
4. It is ultimately the members responsibility to request the SWE point,
ensure it resides in their DA award record and appears on their SWE PDE
(provided the effective award date is between the member’s Point Start Date
(PSD) and the SWE Eligibility Date (SED)).
5. For general policy questions regarding these policies and standards,
contact COMDT (CG-1331) at HQS-PolicyandStandards@uscg.mil. Questions about
the SWE or PDE should be via email to PPC-DG-CustomerCare@uscg.mil.
