SAN FRANCISCO — A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a 75-year-old man who was reportedly suffering symptoms of a heart attack aboard the cruise ship Star Princess, approximately 30 miles northwest of Point Arena, Monday morning.
Star Princess crewmembers contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector San Francisco Monday morning to request a medevac for a man who was in cardiac arrest and on a defibrillator.
After the cruise ship doctor and a Coast Guard duty flight surgeon concurred the man was stable enough for a hoist, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco was dispatched to the scene.
The air crew hoisted the patient and a nurse from the Star Princess and transported them to the San Francisco Airport. Emergency medical services personnel waiting at the airport took the man to Mills Peninsula Hospital.
The man was last reported to be in stable condition.
