Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island conducts multiple rescues
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard received multiple calls of mariners in distress in the vicinity of Dauphin Island, Alabama, Saturday.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a call about a capsized vessel at 11:11 a.m. from Mobile 911 that two people were holding onto the hull of a capsized vessel near Billy Goat Hole in Dauphin Island.
Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island recovered the two boaters and returned them to Station Dauphin Island before responding to a second call, at 11:40 a.m., of a wooden vessel that was taking on water, with one adult and one child aboard.
Coast Guard Sector Mobile vectored a Good Samaritan to the location of the sinking vessel, who then recovered the two passengers and transferred them onto the Coast Guard vessel.
