Coast Guard, local agencies to conduct training exercise in Sturgeon Bay
STURGEON BAY, Wisc. – The U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Venture Inc., the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and other state and local partners are scheduled to conduct a pollution response training exercise near Potawatomi State Park, Thursday.
The exercise is part of a yearly effort called the Preparedness for Response Exercise Program designed to meet exercise requirements set forth in the Oil Pollution Act of 1990. The exercise helps federal, state, local and industry partners align response strategies, objects and priorities to better prepare responses to complex maritime incidents.
The public can to expect to see Coast Guard personnel and other local responders in the area throughout the week participating in this exercise.
Reports of real world emergencies should continue to be reported by calling 911; however, the public is asked not to be alarmed if you see an influx of emergency personnel throughout the week.
