The Coast Guard Academy continues to be named as top educational institution

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Coast Guard Academy continues to be recognized in various college rankings as one of the top undergraduate educational institutions in the country, Tuesday. 

 

U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings placed the Coast Guard Academy #1 in the Top Public Regional Colleges North category. The Academy also placed in the top ten in the Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs, and in the top 100 Undergraduate Business programs in the nation.

The Academy made a significant leap in the America’s Top Colleges publication from Forbes magazine, after the Coast Guard Academy was featured on their Top 25 Public Colleges in the U.S. list this year, climbing from #18 in 2016 to #7. The Academy rose from #13 to #9 on their Top 25 STEM Colleges list. 

 

Additionally, The Princeton Review included the Academy in their Best 382 Colleges publication, a collection of the top 15% colleges and universities in the nation.

The Review ranked the Academy #4 on the Most Engaged in Community Service list, and #6 on the Lots of Race/Class Interaction list. According to the publication, the lists are based on data from 137,000 students’ surveys from the 382 schools featured in the book.

In the Academy’s profile in the publication one cadet told the Review that, “Those students of different backgrounds easily fit in with everyone else.” 

Another cadet responding to the survey said that the Academy, “Gives me a standard to live up to and hold myself to, even when I am away from here,” and went on to say that the institution, “is truly unique in its ability to provide an environment where classmates become shipmates, friends, and eventually family.”
