CHARLESTON, S.C. -- A Coast Guard Sector Charleston crew port assessment team surveys the Port of Charleston to identify any damages or obstructions to navigation due to the storm caused by Hurricane Irma Monday Morning.
The Coast Guard Waterways Management and Aids to Navigation Team Charleston scheduled to get underway Tuesday aboard a pilot boat to further assess the maritime transportation system.
"We are working around-the-clock with our federal, state, local partners and industry stakeholders to re-open the port to all vessel traffic and resume the flow of maritime commerce to maintain security and stability through the nation, "said Capt. John Reed, Sector Charleston commander.
