Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet holds ribbon cutting ceremony

MANASQUAN INLET, Nj. — The Coast Guard hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of a new facility for Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet today.

The new facility provides space for all station functions, including administration, maintenance, repairs and training in a safe environment out of the weather.

The previously facility was built in the late 1930’s and served its purpose well for many years. However, newer boats could no longer fit inside the boat maintenance facility and it was quickly deteriorating.

Following Super Storm Sandy, funding was approved to bring the new facility to fruition, allowing Station Manasquan Inlet to maintain the highest level of operational readiness.

A 592 square-foot classroom provides space for training and meeting with port partners. The 2,900 square-foot boat bay and marine rail car allows the crew to pull the Response Boat-Small to conduct maintenance or cleaning. The building also includes office and work spaces to maintain records and conduct preventative maintenance on equipment such as law enforcement and rescue and survival systems gear. Locker rooms are available for equipment storage and changing. The building also includes a gym to help members stay healthy and fit.

“The new facility gives us the opportunity to have all of our members in one centralized area,” said Chief Petty Officer Zachary Gray. “In the past we were working out of several different buildings and now we can work seamlessly as we carry out our missions. We are very excited to begin a new chapter and continue to provide the highest level of response to the boating community.”
