SAN FRANCISCO — A Coast Guard crew rescued two women whose sailboat capsized near Richmond, Monday.
A good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders via VHF-FM channel 16 at approximately 2:10 p.m., reporting a capsized vessel with two people sitting on the hull.
The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Tern, an 87-foot Coastal Patrol Boat homeported at Yerba Buena Island, was underway nearby and launched their small boat to investigate.
The crew retrieved the women, who were both reportedly wearing life jackets, and took them to a nearby marina at 3:12 p.m., with no reported injuries.
After the rescue, a good Samaritan towed the capsized sailboat to the marina.
