**UPDATE** Coast Guard captain of the port updates port conditions in southeast TX

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard Captain of the Port Zone Houston-Galveston has established Port Condition Recovery status with additional parameters, Friday.

As of 1:30 p.m., the following ports are open to day and night transit as controlled by Vessel Traffic Service Houston-Galveston:
    •    The Galveston Bay Entrance Channel, Outer Bar Channel, Inner Bar Channel, Bolivar Roads Anchorages, Bolivar Roads Channel and Galveston Harbor
    •    Freeport
    •    The Texas City Channel, Texas City Turning Basin and Industrial Canal
    •    The Houston Ship Channel above Lighted Buoy 18 to Mitchell’s Point

The Houston Ship Channel above Mitchell’s Point is closed to ship and tow traffic. VTS Houston-Galveston will manage individual movements by light boats and harbor tugs above Mitchell’s Point. The VTS Houston-Galveston director will consider aforementioned movements on a case-by-case basis.

The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway from Mile Marker 350 Westbound to Freeport, Texas, is open to single barge traffic in daylight only. These parameters will be modified by VTS Houston-Galveston upon the completion of further surveys and assessments. A temporary reporting point is in effect at MM350.

The Gulf Intracoastal Waterway MM350 to the Bolivar Barge Terminal MM343.5 is open to 24-hour tow traffic. VTS Houston-Galveston will provide notification upon opening the ICW between MM343.5 and the eastern boundary of the COTP zone at High Island.

Mariners may report anomalies, derelict vessels, obstructions and discrepancies to VTS Houston-Galveston by calling 832-256-7569. Mariners may continue to file reports with the Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston Command Center by calling 281-464-4853.

"We understand the value of the region's ports to the local, state and national economy," said Coast Guard Capt. Kevin Oditt, commander, Sector Houston-Galveston. "We work closely with the Army Corps of Engineers, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and our port stakeholders to ensure a deliberate and safe opening of the waterways."
