HOUSTON — The U.S. Coast Guard continues to respond to search and rescue requests in response to Hurricane Harvey in the greater Houston Metro Area Wednesday.
U.S. Coast Guard Flood Punt Teams from around the nation are assisting in rescue efforts and have saved more than 5,058 people from flooded homes and streets.
Currently there are 9 punt teams and 12 punt boats assisting with rescue operations.
"We are assessing the needs of the community around the clock and strategically placing our punt teams in the best place to assist,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Stephanie Tindall, a marine science technician at Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston. “We have been working closely with partnered agencies to ensure an effective and efficient response effort."
