Media Advisory: Media invited for tour of New Orleans command center coordinating Coast Guard flood response efforts

  • What: An inside look at the New Orleans command center used by the Coast Guard Crisis Action Team helping coordinate search and rescue efforts in Texas and southwest Louisiana.

  • Who: 52 Coast Guard personnel from New Orleans and around the country coordinating logistics and information as part of the rescue and response efforts for Hurricane Harvey. In addition to the tour, Rear Admiral Paul Thomas, commander of the 8th Coast Guard District, will provide a brief overview of the contributions of New Orleans personnel to the flood recovery operations.

  • When: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30.

  • Where: Hale Boggs Federal Building, 500 Poydras Street, New Orleans. Please wait in the lobby and a Coast Guard Public Affairs representative will escort you upstairs.
