SUBJ: SOLICITATION FOR THE 2018 CG ENGINEER OF THE YEAR AWARD
A. Recognition Programs Manual, COMDTINST M1650.26(series)
1. This message solicits nominations for the 2018 Coast Guard (CG) Engineer of the
Year (EOTY).
2. The purpose of this program is to provide recognition for the outstanding
accomplishments of  engineers (military or civilian) within the CG and the entire
federal government.
3. The 2018 CG EOTY nominations should focus on CG engineering at all levels with
notable accomplishments and achievements.  A panel of CG engineers will convene
the week of 16 October to select the CG EOTY.  They will consider the nominees
educational achievements, professional registrations, professional/technical
society activities and memberships, awards or honors, civic/humanitarian activities,
and most importantly, Coast Guard engineering accomplishments.  Eligible
nominations may be forwarded to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the
National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) to be considered for the Federal
Engineer of the Year Award (FEYA).
4. The CG selection process will utilize the NSPE FEYA application criteria.
No command endorsement is necessary.  Award nomination information and forms may be
downloaded from the NSPE website at:

5. To meet external deadlines, nominations must be received NLT COB Friday,
13 October 2016.  Completed application forms must be submitted electronically as
an email attachment to LTJG Catherine E.Kavanaugh.  Please ensure a reply email is
received for confirmation of all CG EOTY nominations.
