SUBJ: SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE MASTER CHIEF PETTY OFFICER OF THE
COAST GUARD (MCPOCG) AND COAST GUARD RESERVE FORCE MASTER CHIEF
(CGRF-MC)
A. Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) Program, COMDTINST 1306.1
(series)
1. Through normal rotation, the MCPOCG and CGRF-MC positions will
be open in 2018. To provide for a timely relief and smooth
transition, this ALCOAST announces and prescribes the timeline and
procedure for submission of applications for the next MCPOCG and
CGRF-MC.
2. The selection process and arrival schedule are as follows:
   A. 1 OCT 2017 - Application deadline
   B. 16-18 OCT 2017 – Screening Panel convenes
   C. TBD - Finalists interviewed by the prospective
Commandant
   D. TBD - Commandant announces selection by ALCOAST
3. All eligibility criteria and application requirements are
contained within Ref A.
4. Application packages:
   A. Completed MCPOCG application packages must be sent
electronically via email attachment to CWO Don Wiley at:
Donald.A.Wiley@uscg.mil. The subject line must read
"MCPOCG APPLICATION."
   B. Completed CGRF-MC application packages must be sent
electronically via email attachment to LT Josh Denney at:
Joshua.A.Denney@uscg.mil. The subject line must read
"CGRF-MC APPLICATION."
   C. Applicants will receive an email acknowledging receipt.
5. Selection process: When the next Commandant is selected, the
finalists, as specified by the prospective Commandant, will be
identified IAW the process established in Ref A.
6. Area and District Commanders, Deputy Commandant for Operations,
Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, Coast Guard Personnel
Service Center, Assistant Commandants for Directorates, Special
Staff Offices at Headquarters, Superintendent of the Coast Guard
Academy, FORCECOM, DOL, and unit Commanding Officers shall ensure the
individuals they recommend are capable of assuming the
responsibilities of the position. In addition, they shall counsel
and encourage all qualified members to apply.
