SUBJ:  THE NATIONAL IMAGE INC 2017 MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENT
1. I am delighted to announce that Mr. Damien Terry from COMDT (CG-12B),
Office of Diversity and Inclusion, was selected as the Coast Guard recipient
of the 2017 National Image Inc Meritorious Service Award. This award honors
personnel who have significantly supported and contributed to the CG's
missions and whose attributes best epitomized the qualities and Core Values
of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty.
2. Mr. Terry is cited for inspirational leadership and superior performance
of duties while assigned as the Diversity Outreach Manager for the Coast Guard.
His passionate drive and superb performance made profound impact on
recruiting, retaining and creating a more diverse and inclusive Coast Guard
workforce. He was instrumental in heightening awareness of the Coast Guard’s
scholarship program and STEM careers to over 18,000 students in underserved
communities across the nation. He provided career enhancing professional
development and networking opportunities with nationally recognized affinity
organizations to over 165 Coast Guard women and minority members. He single-
handedly organized the Office of Personnel Management’s 2016 Diversity and
Inclusion Collaboration and Innovation Summit, a power workshop that
increased diversity and inclusion initiatives across the federal workforce.
3. I commend Mr. Terry for his outstanding leadership, achievements and
exemplary service. He will be officially recognized during the National Image
Inc Military Award Recognition on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 7:00pm at
the Isleta Resort in Albuquerque, NM.

effectiveness by fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce through recognition
of members' accomplishments and contributions to diversity, outreach, affinity
groups, MSI Partnership Programs, research studies, policy advice and more.
