Coast Guard medevacs 81-year-old man from Catalina Island
SAN PEDRO, Calif. — The Coast Guard medevaced an 81-year-old man from Catalina Island Sunday.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., the LA Medical Alert System notified Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders of a male who displayed symptoms of a heart attack and requested a medevac.
After consulting with a Coast Guard flight surgeon, Forward Operating Base Mugu launched an MH-65 helicopter crew to assist.
The helicopter arrived on scene, embarked the man and transported him to Torrance Memorial Medical Center where he was reported to be in stable condition.
