Coast Guard discovers drugs while boarding vessel near Vermilion Bay
NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard found drugs during a law enforcement boarding on a commercial fishing vessel near Vermilion Bay, Louisiana, Friday.
Boarding officers from Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Morgan City conducted a routine law enforcement boarding on the commercial fishing vessel Our Pride.
After patting down a crewmember, the boarding officer discovered a pen containing methamphetamine residue and commenced with a search resulting in the finding of additional methamphetamine and marijuana cigarettes.
The captain of Our Pride voluntarily terminated his voyage and returned to Delcambre, Louisiana, where New Iberia Parish Sheriff’s met and took custody of the crewmember and the narcotics.
