Coast Guard medevacs man from fishing vessel 82 miles south-southwest of Key Largo
MIAMI — The Coast Guard medevaced at 25-year-old man from a Bahamian-flagged fishing vessel approximately 82 miles south-southwest of Key Largo, Friday.
Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector Key West Command Center received a call at about 8:10 p.m. from the crew of the 95-foot fishing vessel Fish Farmer reporting one of their crewmembers was in need of medical attention. The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew.
The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 12:10 a.m. and hoisted the individual. The rescue crew flew the man to Florida Key Marathon International Airport where awaiting emergency medical services transported him to Fishermen’s Community Hospital for further care.
