A. MARINE INDUSTRY TRAINING PROGRAM, COMDTINST 1500.4
1. The purpose of this ALCOAST is to announce the promulgation of REF (A).
2. This Instruction establishes policies, procedures, and standards for
the administration of the Marine Industry Training Program and supersedes
guidance promulgated in Section 7.H of Marine Safety Manual, Volume I,
COMDTINST M16000.6.
3. The Marine Industry Training Program is a specialized training program
offered to Coast Guard officers and senior enlisted Marine Science Technicians.
The program is accomplished through internships with maritime industry
organizations and other regulatory agencies, similar to participating in a
fast track junior executive training program of either short-term (4-6 months)
or long-term (one-year) assignments.
4. This Instruction is available to all units on the CGPORTAL at
https://cgportal2.uscg.mil/library/directives.
5. Hardcopies will not be mailed per the Standard Distribution List.
