Coast Guard medevacs 48-year-old man from fishing vessel 20 miles east of St. Catherines Island

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard medevacked a 48-year-old man Sunday 20 miles east of St. Catherines Island, Georgia.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders were notified at 9:58 a.m. via VHF-FM radio channel 16 by the crew of the 41-foot fishing vessel Scat II stating a passenger was suffering from shortness of breath.

A Coast Guard Station Tybee Island 45-foot Response Boat – Medium crew launched at 10:14 a.m. with EMS onboard.

The RBM crew arrived on scene at 11:00 a.m. and transported the man to Station Tybee Island where EMS were waiting.

EMS transported the man to Memorial University Medical Center for further medical treatment.
