Coast Guard medevacs diver 20 miles west of Egmont Key

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.The Coast Guard medevaced a 43-year-old diver from a boat 20 miles west of Egmont Key, Sunday.

At 11:06 a.m. watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call via VHF-FM marine band radio channel 16 from crewmembers aboard a 23-foot boat reporting a diver in their party had surfaced experiencing dizziness and requested medical assistance.

A flight surgeon was notified and recommended the man be medevaced.

A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boatcrew from Station Cortez was launched, arrived on scene and transported the man to Fort De Soto Park Bay Pier. The man was transferred to EMS in stable condition.
