MIAMI—The Coast Guard medevaced a 58-year-old Filipino man from a bulk carrier ship more than 200 miles northeast of Port Canaveral, Friday.

Watchstanders with the Coast Guard’s 7th District Command Center received a notification from the 641-foot Singaporean-flagged bulk carrier vessel Spring Sky that the master of the vessel was reportedly suffering from severe abdominal pain. The watchstanders directed the launch of an Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew and an Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew.

The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 9:40 a.m. hoisted the man and is transporting him to Holmes Regional Medical Center for a higher level of medical care.
