Coast Guard medevacs 59-year-old man from houseboat

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 59-year-old man from a houseboat in Estero Bay, Tuesday.

At 10:30 a.m. watchstanders from Station Fort Myers Beach received a call from a 59-year-old man in a 25-foot houseboat stating he was suffering from shortness of breath and requesting emergency medical assistance. 

A 29-foot Response Boat Small-II boatcrew from the station was launched with EMS aboard. The boatcrew transported the man in stable condition to the station. Upon arrival, EMS transported the man to HealthPark Medical Center.

"We hope for a speedy recovery for the man and wish him well," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Angel Morales, an officer of the day at Station Fort Myers Beach. "Many of our reserve Coast Guard men and women work for our partner agencies, like the EMS aboard our boat today, making interagency cooperation even more successful and in turn leads to swift operations."
