MIAMI — The Coast Guard assisted eight boaters after their boat began taking on water Monday in the vicinity of Long Key Bridge.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West received a call from the operator of the rented 29-foot Proline fishing boat stating they were taking on water and needed assistance.

A Coast Guard Station Marathon 33-foot Special Purpose Craft—Law Enforcement boatcrew arrived on scene at 4:18 p.m., and found the boaters had beached their vessel on Channel Key. The Station Marathon crew quickly assessed the situation and stopped the source of flooding.

The rental company also sent a vessel to assist the stranded boaters who transported them back to the rental location with no injuries.
